01

Our Mission

We want to help more people understand themselves in a simple, accessible way, and better understand the differences between people.

Xiaoceshi offers free tests and knowledge content around personality, self-awareness, career exploration, and relationships. We treat MBTI as a tool for self-exploration, not as a fixed label that defines a person.

✦

Our Story

Xiaoceshi was born out of an interest in personality psychology and the differences between people. We wanted to create a free, easy-to-use platform where users can not only learn their MBTI type, but also go further and explore careers, relationships, and personal growth.

02

What We Offer

We provide MBTI tests, interpretations of all 16 personality types, a blog, career exploration, and relationship exploration.

We also offer a third-person test (observer edition), which lets you estimate the MBTI type of a partner, friend, colleague, or boss from everyday observation.

Career exploration combines personality preferences with public occupational data to help users discover career directions worth learning more about; relationship exploration discusses communication, trust, conflict, and individual differences from the perspective of relationship science.

The site is available in Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, and Portuguese, and all core features are free to use with no registration required.

03

Our Values

Based on Evidence: we draw on psychological theories, public occupational databases, and relevant research, and we distinguish as clearly as possible between research conclusions and exploratory viewpoints.

Personality Is Not a Label: MBTI describes preferences, not a person's ability, intelligence, or worth.

Privacy First: we collect as little personal information as possible. For how data is handled, please see the privacy policy.

Continuous Improvement: we keep improving the tests, content, and product experience based on user feedback and research.

04

Team

Xiaoceshi is an independently created and maintained project, continuously built by creators interested in psychology, knowledge organization, and software technology.

Some of the content is assisted by AI tools for research and drafting, but every piece is edited and reviewed by humans before publication.

05

Methodology

We do not treat MBTI as a model that explains every aspect of personality and behavior.

The site explores personality at three levels:

PersonalitySelf-AwarenessPractical Application

MBTI helps users understand their personality preferences; career exploration combines personality preferences with occupational information; relationship exploration goes further to consider relationship mechanisms such as communication, trust, conflict, interdependence, and context.

That is why we do not use MBTI to predict career success or failure, or relationship outcomes.

06

Relationship Exploration Methodology

Relationship Science

We start by describing the relationship itself from the perspective of relationship science and the social sciences.

Relationship Mechanisms

We focus on mechanisms such as communication, trust, conflict, power, and interdependence.

MBTI Exploration

MBTI is used only as a lens for understanding individual differences, not to predict how a relationship will unfold.

Individual Differences

Real relationships are also shaped by experiences, culture, values, environment, and specific behaviors.

✦

Dual Test methodology

The Dual Test links two independent results: your own self-test, and a test of the other person based on your everyday observation. The system reads both parties' leanings on E/I, S/N, T/F and J/P, judges each dimension as "similar" or "clearly different", and offers relationship analysis and advice accordingly.

We deliberately do not output an overall compatibility score: personality differences are not inherently good or bad, and a single score tends to reduce a complex relationship to a label. The dual analysis only shows where the differences lie and how you might relate to them, to help you understand each other rather than draw conclusions for you.

The relationship content is compiled from public research on personality and relationships, with sources noted on the result page. An observational "test them" is subjective and can shift with the angle of observation and the situation, so please read it with reason.

07

How Results Are Generated

Based on your answers to the test questions, the system aggregates the four preference dimensions — E/I, S/N, T/F, J/P — and forms a four-letter type result.

It then generates a personalized interpretation for your type, covering personality traits, strengths and challenges, interpersonal interactions, and career exploration.

Test results are meant for self-exploration and reference only.

08

How Career Matches Are Generated

Our career exploration covers 100 occupations, combining occupational information with personality-type preferences and using a structured career-matching model to evaluate how each occupation matches the 16 MBTI types.

Occupational information draws mainly on public occupational databases such as O*NET.

Match results are meant to help users explore career directions, not to predict career success or failure.

09

Sources & Limitations

The content on this site draws on Carl Jung's theory of psychological types, the MBTI framework developed by Katharine Cook Briggs and Isabel Briggs Myers, the O*NET occupational database, and research on personality, careers, and relationships.

MBTI is a framework for exploring personality, not a clinical diagnostic tool. The content on this site is for self-exploration and informational purposes only, and should not be used as the sole basis for medical, hiring, or other major decisions.
